Help Cul-de-Sac!

Posted: Monday, September 8th, 2008 at 11:56 am

It’s off to work we go…Well, Cul-de-Sac appears to be generating a decent amount of local attention, with 4Talent Central England, Created in Birmingham and the Birmingham Post all having picked up on the site. Which is great news!

All has gone quiet chez Cul-de-Sac recently, though, and you’ll probably have noticed that the site hasn’t been updated during the past few weeks. Normal service will resume soon, but in the meantime we need your help: we’re looking for writers and photographers to get involved, so if you’d like to see your gig reviews or photos on Cul-de-Sac then email us to find out how you can help. If we’re going to achieve our goal of getting more people talking about the the kind of music coming out of the region, and the events that are taking place here, then we need your input - whether that’s reviews, photos, or if you’re in a band and want to tell us about the gigs you’ve got lined up, we want to hear from you.

So what are you waiting for? A cul-de-sac doesn’t have to be a dead end - this is merely the start of big things to come…

  1. Julie Bronson (Stiletto Promotions) Says:

    Hi

On Sunday September 14th 2008 Stiletto Promotions who usually run alternative events and gigs in the region, are putting on the first event in Birmingham in memorial of Sophie Lancaster, the 20 year old who lost her life following a brutal attack for her “gothic” appearance.

The S.O.P.H.I.E. Memorial fund has been set up by Sophie’s family to have cultural beliefs added to the “hate xrime” umberella and also to educate young people regarding discrimination against people for cultural beliefs.

This event is being held at Club DV8. Entrance £7.50.

Our headliner is rather appropriately Pete Burns/Dead or Alive. Main support is Deviant UK. Other confirmed acts from the region are The Beautiful Deadly Children and Sugarfiend. Performances also from Faces of Sarah and Love & Bulletts. There will be an auction and various DJs.

    4pm til late.

    Please support this cause.

It’s been another couple of months and it looks like nothing much is happening here.

What’s up? I was looking forward to their being a good source of local music news.

    Hey,

I am aspiring to be a Music Journalist. I go to see many unsigned bands and am planning to start writing reviews on them. I was wondering if you would be interested in this as you were looking for writers.
